If Maserati’s plot to sell 50,000 cars annually by 2016 is to succeed, the Trident’s super-SUV needs to fly out of showrooms fast enough to give salesmen whiplash. Ambitious? Yes, but Maserati’s up-sleeve trick is getting the platform from sister brand Jeep and its much-improved Grand Cherokee.
BMW 135is - US only
BMW is not taking the new M135i to the US but has instead announced the BMW 135is Coupe and Convertible for the US only. There must be logic to BMW’s decision to badge a new 1 Series M135i for the UK and Europe and then add a new model in the US – the 135is Coupe – that actually has more power but no ‘M’ moniker. But that logic does escape us.
2013 SRT Viper
The new Dodge Viper – the 2013 SRT Viper – has been revealed at the New York Auto Show. More power, less weight and more upmarket. The American King of the Nurburgring – the Dodge Viper – went out of production in 2010, but now it’s back as the 2013 SRT Viper and has debuted at this week’s New York Auto Show.
